my favourite things/how do you colour joy

Today it is blends
of soft greens turning golden
pink reds
and oranges
blending in a dance called 'splendor'
as leaves twirl
and pirouette
to the forest floor

It is greens
bleached into whites
set bold
against the mottling of tree bark
fallen cones
squirrel treasure cashes...

How does one colour joy?

it is the colour of my Saviour's love
spilled out for me
long ago
on that Calvary hill

and now spread daily

like a feast
before my eyes

wherever I look
I see its colours
my heart takes in
this amazing palette

make my life a canvas

Oh Lord

open my eyes
to see your colours
guide my brush
to make a masterpiece

that my life
might show forth
Your glory
and

Majesty

How do I colour joy

  1. "A dance called "Splendor . . . twirl and pirouette to the forest floor" . . . exquisite choice of words, Susan!

I am always watching for your posts with great anticipation, and am so glad you found some moments in this busy time of year to scratch this out.

    Blessings to you and Eduardo,
    Andrea Dawn

  2. Thank you for your greetings Andrea...I would love a walk through our trails today with you...there is this brilliant iridescence that is making everything 'glow'. I know our Abba Father would be foremost on our minds as we rejoice in the glory of His Son...Isn't it just a piece of glory to know that His Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are children of God!
I hope your knee is letting you walk through a piece of that glory splendor that you have around you in Burnaby Park...

  3. Susan,

I am like Andrea Dawn. I pass by here all the time just to peek if you've posted. Thank you for giving me new phrases for what is happening around me in the woods and by the creeks and in my yard.

I have an idea for a fire picture which is one of the prompts on the scavenger hunt this week. I hope I can make what I want to make. I am in the process of looking for a new job and I'm spending a lot of time making applications...not what I want to be doing this most loveliest of seasons.

Carry on poets, writers and photographers. I'll catch up with you one of these days.

    Joyfully,
    Dawn

  4. Dear Dawn,
Searching for a job is a very difficult and time consuming effort... I am praying you get the desire of your heart; The perfect job where you will be such a blessing to Jesus! God gives such good gifts!
Now to the scavenger hunt... I saw that new list and am eager to see what you ladies come up with! Today, on my way to town, the trees were afire in their golden beauty, everywhere my heart burst within me for the glory!
Dawn... just like fire... the trees and my heart on fire for all God's beauty!

  11. Ah, yes...the colors of fall. Such a feast for the eyes right through to the soul.

It is a colorful world if we have eyes that will see.

    Waving and smiling,

    Rhonda

    P.S. - I like your blogger template. ;)

  12. After all of the kind things you said on my blog, I just had to come and "meet" you here. :) Yes! I can see that we do indeed speak the same "language." It would appear that we are even pondering similar things. Just today, I was thinking about flowers, colors, music, and about how much deeper God sees, hears, and smells them than we do. Now I feel a bit like blogging. ;)

    "squirrel treasure cashes"

That is what stood out to me. How Autumn is a time for the old to pass away. How, as children of the King, we must allow what is of no lasting value to crumble, but to store up our treasures in Heaven.

    I love your blog!

  21. I'm so glad that you commented on my blog so that I could come and read yours.

"How do I colour joy?" That's a question to contemplate as I move through my day looking at all the colours around me. Can my husband's smile be a colour? How about a call from a daughter? Colours unnamed as yet, perhaps in heaven we'll know what to call them.
