my favourite things/ this fine snow hanging

wedding lace
draped down
this fine snow hanging

shaped over the eaves
like a maiden

prepared
as a bride
her gown
holy
her
clothed
in His righteousness
radiant
pure
in His love

The midnight hour
brought this celebration
Aurora Borealis
the glory soft faded
humble in the Eastern sky
then awakened into the night
stretched high
a thousand green skylights
searching the stars
for the One
brighter than
any other
the One fit for the bride
as she waits
soft in the light
of the moon
her countenance
warm glowing
waiting

whatsoever
is lovely

think on these things

this fine snow hanging
lacy
pure
lovely

my favourite things

  1. Dear Susan,

I thought the water prompt may have spurred you on, but this poem took a whole different direction than I thought it would. I could scarcely breathe as I read on and on about the wedding: the lace, the love, the decorations and lighting--the searching for the One shining brighter than all the others. It took me back to a little church and lots of faces looking my way, but I was looking only for one and there he was: at the altar looking past everyone, at me...to come to him.

I want a reserved seat for the aurora borealis, and could we have a bit of Mozart and hot chocolate as we watch?

Ah, and heaven is going to be even better yet, Susan,
    Dawn

  2. Oh Dawn you have taken me back a lot of years... but I can see you both in all your joy for each other. It was the same for me. We have been so blessed haven't we! Heaven will be astounding in all its Glory!

Mozart and hot chocolate shared over Aurora Borealis put a big smile on my face!
And to think that my husband should ask what time I came to bed?
Some nights just keep me sitting on a fence post like last night! I really wanted to wake Eduardo and have him join me but he is with the strike force today and he needed his sleep.
